INCLUSION
|
| |
| Today the name of the game
is INCLUSION with the
aim of involving more disabled people in the work place.
However, this can present problems as not all people can
adapt to working with disabled colleagues, particularly
if it is the first time they have come face to face with
people with differences to the norm. |
| |
| It is for this reason we have promoted
our programme of visiting schools, talking to children
about these differences and introducing them to young
disabled people. The initial visit can be followed up
by a Drama
Workshop. There is no charge to
the school and our speakers are qualified Occupational
Therapists and teachers who have worked with disabled
children. All speakers are accompanied by a young disabled
person. |
| |
|
As we operate an equal
opportunities policy and 50% of our staff are disabled,
we understand some of the problems employers come up
against. So we are trying to improve the future for
both young disabled and their future colleagues. |
