After leaving Treloar College in July 2002
I moved to 'Living Options' in Chichester where I
had the opportunity to further my independence skills
and share my experiences with the organisation, by
representing them in various roles, ie- funding focused
seminars to ensure a wider representation of the charity.
In 2003 I moved to the 'Independent Living Project'
near Alton in Hampshire. Using their centred planning
approach I was able to develop Independent living
ability, social skills and interpersonal development.
My time there was very well spent because I was happy
and settled, though very scared to begin with. There
are some very important questions in our lives today
and this project enabled me to explore some of the
wider questions that are raised today.
In Feb 2005 I moved on to Oakhanger. 'MY OWN HOME'.
and by this time I had joined the SVA. I was
given the role of Hampshire Liaison Officer,
which has enabled me to go into schools and promote
Disability Awareness to a wider audience. I enjoy
this role because of the wide range of people I meet
and the opportunities that come from it.
